Development of capitalism can not get away from the credit system. In western countries, everyone has a life-long credit ID card and a credit report made and filed by the credit rating company. Any bank, company or business entity may inquire about this report by paying some charges. For instance，if you have violated the traffic rules but have not paid the fine after three fine notices, your record will be sent to the credit standing bureau, and the bureau will file this record, thus, your credit standing has got a black mark. And, the computer recorded data of the credit standing bureau is open to all walks of life of the society. Hence，if you want to get the preferential treatment of installment in buying an expensive commodity, the shop will refuse you after they consult the record in the credit standing bureau；If you want to find a good job, the employer will find you undependable when they refer to the record；If you want to apply for a loan from the bank, the bank may also give you a rebuff when they have consulted the record. In short，it will be impossible for you to live a life with dignity in this society. In this way, anyone who has a good conscience and wishes to live a life with dignity will dare not do illegal things, and will follow the rule naturally. Hence，the credit system has cultivated the credit consciousness of western citizens, and everyone values his(her) own credit very much.
In China, while practicing the market economy, we lack a corresponding credit system，so, the whole society has got into such a state described as “You do not trust me, and I do not trust you either”. A businessman has a lot of money at hand but is not willing to invest, and his reason is like this: “Even sitting idle and living off my past gains is better than being cheated of all the money in case of incaution.” Ordinary people fear being deceived when going out: When they drink, they fear being poisoned; when they go to the hospital, they dare not get injection for fear that the “one-shot needle tube” is a fake and if they get AIDS from it, it will be too late… As early as several thousand years ago, our saint Confucius already put credit above military affairs and the grain problem, and ours is an ancient country with a very good tradition of keeping faith, with numerous stories about that, such as Weisheng’s “keeping faith by holding the pillar until death”, Shang Yang’s “erecting a piece of wood to offer a high award to people moving it just for showing credit”, Ji Bu’s “great reputation as a credible person is more valuable than a thousand ounce of gold”… Why are we not as honest and reliable as people in the capitalist society now? Just because we lack a credit system. In China，a person’s fraud records, bad faith records or records of violation of traffic rules… are never filed. Even if they are on record，there are hardly any people who can see them. If a man sets up a small workshop to make and sell false wine or false cigarettes，he may just get a fine when caught, and he may change a place to re-register a small factory and change a brand, then his old “business” will continue；If he practices fraud in Sichuan, he may do so again tomorrow in Henan or Shandong: He may change a place whenever he swindles, and get away easily；If an employee lives on his employer while helping others secretly, and is found out, he may just change an employer and no one will punish him … If there is a credit system，all your delinquent conducts will be taken down, can never be erased, and others can look them up, hence, once they have found so, they will never do business with you, never be cheated by you.
If we say the credit system is the protecting god of market economy, the merits and virtues system will be the protecting god of the immortal-becoming undertaking. The feasibility of the credit card has provided a strong proof for the feasibility of the Bank of Merits and Virtues. The merits and virtues system is an incentive system based on the life interest, which is more powerful and more comprehensive than the credit system in encouraging effect. It is an overall stimulation for people’s merits and virtues, not only including the restricting and encouraging contents of the credit system but also greatly enriching and transcending them. Thus, the merits and virtues system is more perfect and more effective, playing a greater role in promotion of civilization.
The merits and virtues system may greatly help moral evolution，making the society become better and better. Hugo said: “A good-natured moral is the foundation of a society.” Zuo Zhuan, the ancient historic book of China, happened to have the same view as Hugo: “Moral is the base of a state.” Both mankind’s survival and society’s development must take morality as the precondition. The key to the construction of a moral society lies in the construction of a moral mechanism. A moral mechanism takes such a system as the lever: in it, people have to do good things and dare not do bad things. Deng Xiao-ping said long ago：When the system is good, even bad people cannot do bad things；If the system is not good, good people may also do bad things. Nietzschean also believed that kindness is out of interest. Once our society has built up a sound moral mechanism characterized by “one good turn deserves another, and sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”, the whole society will no longer be in a moral crisis. Mr. Nan Huaijin (a famous scholar) thinks, all the cultural ideology of the five thousand years of China is based on karma (punitive justice). However, this “karma” is merely a religious belief. But now we can realize the full and real “punitive justice” in society by way of the high and new social technology. Those who have moral virtues will certainly be returned with good results；Those who are immoral and evil will certainly get evil returns. Only in this way can we cause everyone to keep improving moral virtues，and cause the whole society to progress into a moral society and highly civilized society.
Marx pointed out clearly long ago: “All things people are struggling for are related to their interest”. Seeking interest is human’s natural propensity. Helvetius’ opinion is: “The individual’s interest is the only and universal criterion for judging the value of human behavior.” Horbach also says: “Interest is the only impetus to human conduct.” The life interest of a person is the greatest interest. So long as you are a human，you will have the demand for eternal life and daylong ecstasy. So long as we use a certain social technology，such as the Bank of Merits and Virtues technology，and make the best use of the circumstances, we may make everyone vie with each other for making greater contributions and becoming more virtuous. Hence，once we carry out the merits and virtues system on a large scale in the society, we may turn the society into a moral society, a civil society and an ideal society very soon.
Moreover, in execution of the merits and virtues system, the reward offered by the system, prolonging one’s life, may also promote morality. If the reward is money or a beautiful woman, the reward itself may not lead to moral progress. But the reward is life, and the prolonging of life is closely related to moral progress. The economist, Doctor Sheng Hong, made a penetrating analysis from the perspective of game theory：When the game is only once, both parties may take a treacherous policy. If the number of times of gaming has increased to infinite times, both parties will tend to mutual cooperation from mutual treachery gradually. For any treachery may lead to the retaliation by the other party next time. Life is just like gaming，and the number of times of gaming is never only one. However，a human must die, and death just means the end of the gaming. When someone knows he will quit the gaming stage soon, he may stop fearing any retaliation by others after his death, so, he might do any bad things to others. Thus, we have the saying: “After my death, even the flood dashes to skies, I won’t care!” In the soul theory of many religions in the world, the prospect of “the great Beyond” may prolong one’s life in people’s imagination, so, anyone living in this life has to consider the retribution in the otherworld. If there is really an eternal life, the probability of “one good turn deserves another, or sow the wind and reap the whirlwind” will increase greatly. The life encouragement mechanism helps to prolong human life until eternal life，then, people’s considerations about their own behavior will naturally become longer and farther, so it will be easier for them to cherish a “great aspiration”, and seek a “greater morality”. Hence，the life encouragement mechanism can encourage people to abide by moral rules and raise their moral quality，and offer a good remedy to those who have lost their moral sense and lack a firm belief. Meanwhile，the life encouragement mechanism may help the society to give just judgment to each one, that is, using the real merits and virtues to change for real life, which is more convincing and powerful than the illusory religious preaching.
Apart from the great effect on moral construction, what’s more important, the life encouragement mechanism may inspirit all people to make contributions to the great undertaking of mankind’s becoming immortal, and maximize all people’s initiative and creativity, which is the important guarantee for realization of the great ideal! For the pursuit of eternal life, followers of a religion can abide by all moral rules strictly, keep a philanthropic mind, be a vegetarian, even never marry, never drink wine, sparing no price at all for kindness. Once we begin to practice the merits and virtues system，we shall surely motivate people’s worship of life, cause them to work whole-heartedly, and compete with each other for contribution to the immortal-becoming enterprise. Meanwhile，when the merits and virtues system becomes a basic social system，and eternal life becomes everyone’s common goal, all members of the society will be in one mind and make concerted efforts, so the society will have a greater centripetal force and cohesive force. When everything is judged chiefly by material gains and is driven chiefly by money, sharp contradictions and conflicts will surely result between persons, between enterprises, and between nations. Once the merits and virtues system is established, every social member will become a noble-minded person, will make the greatest contribution，which will certainly promote social development greatly；In the meantime，the whole world will regard life as the most valuable, so, mankind will certainly keep away from war, wipe out war and realize an enduring peace. Thus, it can be seen that the merits and virtues system will offer the optimal solution to the two major issues of the world, namely, “peace and development”.
All in all，the life encouragement mechanism centering around the “Bank of Merits and Virtues” as the core technology is a fair, just and optimal competition encouragement mechanism，able to urge everyone to make greater contributions to the society, especially to the undertaking of mankind’s becoming immortal, and also capable of making everyone become a person of high credit standing and high morality. With such an optimal competitive mechanism，we shall certainly be able to boost mankind’s progress greatly，so as to help mankind stride at an accelerated speed from the present mankind to the new mankind, the high mankind and until the super mankind (immortals).
